If you’re ready to ditch the leggings, boring shorts and just so-so athleisure wear for casual days, this blog will guide you in looking more polished while keeping comfort a priority. While athletic wear is comfortable, most of my Style Coaching clients say that they don’t truly feel their best when wearing it outside of the gym.
One of my favorite parts of my job as a Style Coach is teaching my clients and Society members my outfit making strategies. In this blog, I’m sharing how to elevate your casual outfits and 3 outfit formulas to try in lieu of activewear. You’ll feel more confident and pulled together, all while staying comfortable.

By rocking one of these outfit formulas daily, you’ll feel prepared for wherever the day takes you!
Outfit Formula 1: Casual Dress/Skirt + Stylish Sneakers + Lightweight Third Piece
A casual dress and stylish sneakers is a no-brainer outfit formula. As the temperature drops in the mornings and evenings opt for a lightweight third piece like a denim jacket to go over it. The third piece instantly adds polish and will make you feel even more pulled together. When wearing a third piece with a dress, select one that hits above the hips for the most flattering look. (See HERE my video on Current Dress Styles)
Outfit Formula 2: Skirt + Graphic Tee
Casual, comfortable and upleveled is a graphic tee + skirt outfit formula. I especially love this combination because it allows you to wear your skirt in a new way. If you have been pairing your skirts with the same tops, consider wearing it with a graphic tee to get more wear out of it. And have fun with your graphic tees as they showcase your personality! (See HERE my top style tips for coordinating colors in your outfits)
Outfit Formula 3: One & Done Top + Shorts or Jeans
A one & done top with shorts or your favorite jeans is effortless and polished. A one & done top has interesting details like a print, ruffles, or embroidery, which creates an elevated look. They are a must in every woman’s wardrobe. (HERE are more examples of one & done tops.)
