We are here for the anti-skinny jean trend! Jeans We are here for the anti-skinny jean trend! Jeans are one of the hardest working items in our wardrobe, so they deserve a spotlight, especially when there's a new silhouette being worn. Flares and bootcuts are making their way back thanks to designers like Marc Jacobs and Celine. You'll be seeing more of them this year. Who could possibly be mad about the ultra flattering, leg lengthening magic of this style?!

Style Tip: When wearing wide leg pants, keep your outfit balanced by wearing a more tailored top or tucking your top in.

Look to our stories for more bootcut/flare jean outfit inspiration!

STYLE MYTH: “You have to shop at more "mature" s STYLE MYTH: “You have to shop at more "mature" stores when you are of a certain age.”

When my clients (of all ages) first come to me they often feel baffled as to where to shop for their particular style, body type, age, and budget. But when my over 50 clients first come to me, I often hear they are shopping at the same chain retailers geared towards a more mature woman. When dressed head to toe in these brands, they often feel frumpy and dated! This can be a real "ah ha!" moment for my clients, as they want to look and feel current! I love directing them to stores/brands and boutiques that better reflect their personal style and body type, while still being age appropriate!

Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman captivated millions wi Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman captivated millions with her powerful delivery of an original poem, "The Hill We Climb" to celebrate the inauguration of Joe Biden as president of the United States.  Her words were not the only thing inspiring us as she stood in a cheerful, yellow coat and red headband both by @prada, a statement making look, which held symbolism as well.

Gorman is known for her powerful poetry, but she said in an interview with @voguemagazine she's also excited to use style as another form of expression and a way to honor history:

“I'm glad we can talk about the fashion, because it has so much meaning to me, and it's my way to lean into the history that came before me and all the people supporting me."

So much more than an accessory for warmth, the sca So much more than an accessory for warmth, the scarf is a magical third piece! The magic is in how it instantly adds polish and completes an outfit by adding another focal point. The focal point rule is an outfit making tip I share with my clients and SYC Society members. A focal point is a print, color or texture in your outfit, and you should aim to have 2-3 in your ensembles!

Every fall/winter I get asked how to tie a scarf in various ways as well as what's in style for the season (and what to toss!). Scroll through some of my personal outfits in stories for inspiration!

An olive green utility jacket is a fantastic stapl An olive green utility jacket is a fantastic staple to have in your wardrobe! This color in particular can be paired with so many various hues! I made this upleveled casual outfit for a client who enjoys a pop of color and fun print. A little happy on a cold winter day, if you will!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Style Tip: Always consider the length of the jacket for your body type! If you are an hourglass or triangle body type, choose a jacket that hits above the hips. Want to learn what your body type is and how to best dress for it in the most flattering way?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Let’s talk business casual as this is a dress co Let’s talk business casual as this is a dress code being worn in many work environments! But it can also pose the most style conundrums.

Thankfully, Business Insider has broken it down for us: “The business casual dress code encourages employees to project a... business-like image while enjoying the advantage of more casual and relaxed clothing.”

Style Tip: Err on the side of more formal rather than less—which is generally a good rule of thumb for any occasion where you’re unsure of the formality. While it still means business, it doesn't have to be boring.

Here’s a great example, and look to our stories for more inspiration for your work week ahead! 📷 @9to5chic
One of the most watched shows on Netflix is inspir One of the most watched shows on Netflix is inspiring us with the all of its 1960s looks of midi dresses, silk kerchiefs and waist cinching details.

The Queen’s Gambit follows the life of an orphan turned chess prodigy and explores identity, addiction and feminism. This surprisingly compelling story is yet another show worth watching! And the sophisticated, feminine style of this decade will have you inspired to emulate these looks, in a current way, of course. (Fun Fact: Lead actress Anna Taylor-Joy got to take all of her costumes home with her!)

What can we say? It’s the year of Netflix! Have you seen the Queen's Gambit?

P.S. Check out the fabulous article in @voguemagazine at the link in bio where costume designer, Gabriele Binder, gives details of the makings of each one (paying homepage to the designers of that era) and the symbolism behind them!
