Best Dressed: Golden Globes 2016
Award season has begun! And the celebrities last night did NOT disappoint. Red carpet trends ran the spectrum from all white, capes, sparkle, and column silhouettes. But as always my team and I must select the creme de la creme….Enjoy!
Megan’s Picks:
Kirsten Dunst in Valentino:
Ever since watching Little Women on repeat as a young girl, I’ve always loved Kirsten. Both as an actress and as a style icon. She has always beaten to her own drum, and isn’t afraid to rock her own unique look. Her black velvet dress looked modern not matronly with perfectly placed cut outs. And her smokey eye and sparkling drop earrings provided the luminosity needed to polish off her red carpet look.
Jennifer Lopez in Giambattista Valli:
JLo forever has my heart with her confidence, femininity, and versatility. She is not afraid to showcase her curves in a way that flatters her figure and her age. This red carpet look is perfectly styled from head to toe. While the cape style was a bit overdone at the Golden Globes this year, she rose above the rest with her amazingly executed hair, makeup, jewels, and stilettos.
Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana:
Another one of my personal style icons shined at tonight’s award show. Kate showcased another trend for the evening, sequins. But like JLo, she outshone everyone else both literally and figuratively. Accessorized like a true style maven, she allowed the dress to take center stage with a simple diamond bracelet and of the moment ear crawler earrings. Cop her look by purchasing this short sequin prom dress for 2023 prom.
Laura’s Picks:
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture:
J-Law is absolute perfection once again! Not only did she take home Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Joy (go see it if you haven’t!), but she and Amy Schumer also know how to present and support your BFF when you’re nominated for the same award. Jennifer is the Meryl Streep of my generation and she shines in Dior Haute Couture with cut out detail and Chopard jewelry! Proving you can be glamorous and sexy without being overexposed. Cheers to more Jenn in 2016!
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton:
Alicia stuns both on the red carpet and the silver screen. White was a popular color this year at the Golden Globes, but she really stands out! Her gown, jewelry, and shoes, all designed by Louis Vuitton, really showcase her figure with the belted waist creating the illusion of an hourglass shape, and the gorgeous details of the gown paired with a simple drop earring! Alicia did a lovely job of holding her own in this gown that is both elegant and understated.
Maggie Gyllenhall in Marc Jacobs:
This is such a fun look and I absolutely love it on her! The dress does an amazing job of flattering her figure with the deep-v, tailored waist, and the print size is perfect for her height and doesn’t overpower her. Paired nicely with Neil Lane jewelry and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, the accessories work with the gown to accent it and not steal the spotlight for this showcase piece!
Matt’s Picks:
Lady Gaga in Atelier Versace; Neil Lane Jewelry; Brian Atwood shoes
Kirsten Dunst in Valentino
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture
