Women Jean Jacket Outfits: How to Wear a Denim Jacket 3 Ways
The denim jacket is one of my favorite foundational items; it helps pull outfits together and goes with almost anything. And thankfully it is back in style with a vengeance and is a workhorse in my wardrobe.
When I work with clients, many times they fall into one of two categories: the basics or the personality-pieces girl. I usually find this out quickly once stepping into their closets and assessing their needs. The basics client has many foundational items like a white blouse, jeans or black tee, but they lack variety and interest. Aka their wardrobe often feels boring.
On the other hand, I come across clients who are drawn to fun pieces when shopping but don’t know what to do with them when they get them home. They often don’t own the basic items to create the outfits that they desire.
So whether you’re a basics gal (there’s nothing basic about you) or the girl who loves a fun piece, these tips and my real denim jacket outfits will help you to create your own outfits using both basics and personality-infused items. Let’s dive in to know how to wear a denim jacket:
Style Tip: Perfect for a casual Friday at work. The denim jacket provides a solid foundation and tones down a printed silk shirt dress. Adding a vintage pin or two to the denim jacket gives it more personality as well. Go with the current stacked heel sandal to keep the look casual yet polished.

Style Tip: Headed to the Farmer’s market or a day of leisurely shopping? Paired with a fun pant (culottes, pajama-style, or palazzo can all be fun) and red mules, the denim jacket and white tee ground the look and keep you from appearing over done.
Style Tip: Taken during my latest trip to Maine, this easy outfit was great while sightseeing – still chic and polished but comfortable with jeans and stylish sneakers. The denim jacket tones down the bold turtleneck, and provides the light layers needed during a day on the coast of Maine.
