My Daily Skincare Regimen
“Skincare requires commitment, not a miracle,” stated by skincare expert Dr. Laszlo. And boy, is this true?!
I am frequently asked about my personal skincare regimen, which is such a compliment as I believe good skin is one of the most important things you’ll ever wear. It has come with an unwavering dedication to finding the right products for my skin type and prioritizing monthly facials.
According to many skincare experts, going to bed wearing makeup can cause much harm and damage to your skin including acne and aging. A strong daily skincare routine is all about prevention. The better you care for your skin, the less makeup you have to wear anyway!
Ever wonder the purpose of a serum? Or why you should use a weekly face mask? Once you understand how important certain steps and products are for your skin then you are halfway there!
Today, I am sharing my secrets to glowing skin, what products I personally use and my best kept secret: Village Dermatology.
If you follow these steps daily, you are less likely to have to then treat skincare issues down the road. Consistency is key to experiencing the benefits of these products and seeing results! This investment in time and in products now will save you time & money in the future!
My Daily Skincare Regimen:
Step 1: Cleanser (Daily)
Wash your face morning AND night. Even if you don’t wear makeup during the day, you must wash your face every night to remove the sweat, dirt, etc. that isn’t always visible.
Step 2: Serum (Daily)
Apply a serum and/or facial oil based on your skincare needs. Allow the serum or oil to sink into your skin before applying your moisturizer. And don’t forget to apply this to your neck and decolletage. (**Serums are topical treatment products that efficiently deliver active ingredients—things like antioxidants, vitamins and moisturizing agents into the skin.) A must have for your every skin type is a serum or cream with vitamin C that can help protect your skin from many issues, including sunburn, photoaging, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, sagging, dryness, and an uneven skin tone. Step 3: Moisturizer (Daily)
In the morning apply a moisturizer with SPF, and in the evening apply a more hydrating and anti-aging moisturizer. You should use a moisturizer even if your skin is prone to oiliness. (**“By skipping the moisturizer, your skin will dry out and in turn rebound with more oil production, which can actually cause more breakouts,” according to Dr. Eric Schweiger, founder of Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City.)
Step 4: Under Eye Cream (Daily)
Apply an under eye cream morning and night with your ring finger, which is one of the most important steps. This skin is more delicate under your eye so it requires more hydration and special care.
Step 5: Face Mask (1-2 times a week)
I use a clarifying mask 1-2 times a week, which helps with breakouts, especially given I wear a mask daily. I sometimes use a hydrating mask if my skin needs a little moisture, especially in the winter.
Step 6: Retinol (varies)
Retinol is an essential step for most women. It’s important to have the help of your esthetician when selecting one as there are different grades of retinol and not everyone’s skin type can handle using it daily. Many only need it a few times a week.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know that I go to Village Dermatology for monthly facials. This for me is not just a treat but a must in maintaining a healthy glow. Some of you may ask if monthly facials are necessary, and I personally see better results with my daily skincare regimen when I get them regularly. (And you will, too!) Facials provide deep cleansing of the pores and improve the skin’s tone, texture, and elasticity.
Once a month, I visit Emily at Village Dermatology for a facial to supplement my daily skincare routine. She is my go-to for facials and dermaplaning. She and I first discuss what’s going on with my skin and my overarching skincare goals. From there, she always does a dermaplane (it’s my favorite!) to remove any dead skin and fine hairs from my face. As we age our skin cells don’t turn over as quickly so it’s important to help them along. That’s where a dermaplane comes in.
After the dermaplane, Emily does some form of facial treatment whether it be a Hydrafacial or an intense mask that is geared towards my current skincare needs. I am currently loving the Hydrafacial just like the hydrafacial treatment in Chesterfield, MO! It makes my skin look so dewy, smooth and fresh. She often uses an extractor to help remove any dirt or dead skin from my pores.
The Village Dermatology website explains the Hydrafacial as a “revolutionary treatment that moisturizes the skin, separating it from other skin resurfacing procedures. The Hydrafacial removes dead skin cells and extracts impurities while simultaneously bathing the skin with hydrating agents. This resurfacing treatment is soothing, non-irritating and great for all skin types. Its immediate effectiveness makes it perfect for an upcoming event or vacation to give your skin a healthy ‘glow.’
I’ve also enjoyed other treatments that include laser, like BBL and microneedling. Kim, who is an expert esthetician at Village Dermatology, is specialized in these areas as I always feel in good hands! Microneedling is a dermaroller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores (Learn even more about this procedure HERE).
All in all, I leave Village Dermatology with glistening, clean and healthier looking skin! It’s one of my favorite monthly treats!
