Nail FAQs: Your Nail Questions Answered
As a Style Coach, I work with clients in achieving an overlook that reflects their personality, body type and age. Clothing is not the only aspect we discuss. Other topics that we often tackle are skincare, makeup and even hairstyles. With the assistance of my expert friends (makeup artists, estheticians, etc.) and my years of experience, I am able to help my clients discover a look that makes them confident in their own skin.
Many style and beauty questions come my way from either one-on-one clients, a SYC Society member or readers from my monthly column at StyleBluePrint. This summer, especially, clients have inquired about general nail questions and trends. We are now seeing fun trends and lots of variety more than ever.
Here is a compilation of the many nail questions I have received and my answers for each.
Q: What are your favorite nail polishes to use at home?
A: I’ve recently given up Gel and SNS, after trying them both for years! My nails were weak and all around sad after using them consistently. I’ve found these 2 regular polishes that will last at least a week without chipping, which is pretty awesome given how much I use my hands: Infinite Shine by OPI and Tom Ford Nail Lacquer.
A: When selecting a nail color to go with your outfit for a special event, do not feel like you need to match it to your outfit. Instead opt for a color that compliments it without matching. A great example would be if you are wearing a navy dress, go for a coral color polish in the summer and a deep red in the winter. Or if you are wearing a purple dress try branching out with a gray, navy or even white polish.
A: Your toe nail color and finger nail colors do not have to be the same color. It looks more effortless if you do like a more consistent look, so try a tonal color way with 2 shades of the same color family.
A: It’s time to branch out of the Ballet Slippers and Bubble Bath colors. There are SO many wonderful neutrals out there; try something new next time you get a manicure. I personally am loving a matte white, but make sure to avoid the dated French manicure.
A: For the remaining summer days, it’s all about bright & bold nails! Sunshine yellow, red-orange, rich purple and other happy colors are super fun and in style. For fall/winter 2018, we’ll be seeing rich metallics, deep navy and gray, and of course classic rich reds!
