Your Style Reading List
As you know here at Megan LaRussa we love nothing more than educating and empowering our community. To further your style education and to give you a little direction in the area of style that you need guidance with I’ve provided a list of books below that I thought were vital for every femme to have in her home. These cover the spectrum from learning a bit more about your unique body type, how to style certain clothes for various occasions, and what essential pieces we all need in our closets. If a book below speaks to your style needs, don’t hesitate to snag it for yourself!
What I love about this book is that its sole purpose is about providing information on how-to dress for any and all occasion. From a night out with friends to a black-tie wedding, they give advice on what outfits are appropriate and even provide inspirational images. I would suggest getting this book if you panic and immediately question what to wear when the word “vacation” or “wedding” is mentioned.
Okay, this one should not come as a surprise. What two people know more about styling than the king & queen of style from the hit TV show, “What Not to Wear”?! Clinton and Stacey go into detail about how to look your absolute best for every body type. I am always greatly inspired by how their tips and advice not only help you dress, but also empower you to feel fabulous about your unique body type. They are here for real women and they teach us how to love our bodies and embrace the areas of ourselves that we may not love. I highly recommend this book if you are in need of a little style & body image inspiration.
By- Anuschka Rees (CURRENT BEST SELLER)
This book is stellar! Rees gives you step-by-step advice for finding your own personal style and helps you analyze what clothes you need to try based on what you already have in your closet. This is not cookie-cutter fashion styling, but rather gives you a perspective on your own style. This is what makes this book different from the rest. Grab this book if you have questions about your own personal style and maybe need to branch out and try new things!
If you are as big of a fan as I am of Tim Gunn, then reading his book will be like listening to his voice which is always a treat! He is very good at not overwhelming you in his book, but instead provides a list of basics while also teaching you how to express who you are through your outward appearance. This book is a great guide if you are looking for a fun read while learning from this Project Runway Master.
Last but not least, Shaw’s principles and guidelines on how to find your own style, shop responsibly, and learn to make your purchases last longer will answer many of your pressing questions about shopping. Shaw goes into detail that you must be open to try new things, but be reasonable in asking, “will this help my closet, or clutter it?”. We all have those impulse shopping days, but this book will help you keep your eye open for the clothes you actually need and will use more than once. IF you need a better shopping strategy and need to learn to experiment, this book is your new best friend!
